parties to the government of the day. While it is clear that the Liberals did not win the election, they performed demonstrably better than both Labor and the Greens.
At least Labor understands its role as the Opposition. For some reason the Greens and their supporters think that winning one seventh of the seats in parliament entitles them to special treatment. Sadly, they will remain an irrelevant but bitter presence in the media, and little more than an annoyance in parliament for the foreseeable future.

Sandy Bay on the frontline first responders, police and paramedics who were simply going about their normal duties. Any attack on police and/or paramedics should incur a mandatory custodial sentence. Any damages to property including emergency vehicles should be paid for by the perpetrators. There must be real consequences for those among us who go unrestrained by the conventions of civilised society. Graham Lucas

With five Greens members in the House of Assembly, and two in the House of Review, I can’t understand the outrage about the lack of a special minister for climate change, especially as this topic is loaded with mostly ifs, maybes, mights and couldbes. However, the area that really needs a minister with the intestinal fortitude necessary to take on consistent failures is in local government. And what do we get, nothing but the same person who has either turned a blind eye to the running of these costly institutions, or who lacks the ability to implement necessary change. Up until now, the only answer to problems appears to be to throw more of our money in their direction, while the problem that exists is in policy direction that is wasting ratepayer funds.
