Originally known as Chinese gooseberry, kiwifruit originate from China’s temperate regions. Kiwifruit are known for their high vitamin C content, but they also contain fibre, potassium, vitamin E, folate and a range of antioxidan­ts and enzymes. The presence of actinidin, an enzyme unique to kiwifruit, makes the green kiwifruit in particular great for tenderisin­g meat.
