IT’S NEVER TOO LATE

-

Adopting a preventive skincare regime early on is one way to ensure skin looks radiant and healthy no matter your age. But that doesn’t mean you should feel disheartened or discouraged if you haven’t been proactive with your skin-health routine. “It’s never too late,” says Vanessa Feehan-Meldrum, technical trainer for Sothys. “Healthy skin is beautiful skin. The more healthy, and the more nourished and supported it is, the better it’s going to look.”

Feehan-Meldrum says it’s common for her clients to think they’ve missed the skin-health boat. “I get that all the time when I’m doing consultations: ‘Oh, it’s too late for me.’ It’s not true.” Feehan-Meldrum says there are a handful of things you can do at any age to make a real difference to your skin. “I get asked all the time by women in their forties and fifties what I do for my own skin. They say, ‘Just tell me three things I should do, and I’ll do it.’ My answer is always the same: ‘Exfoliate, get your vitamins in there and use a great moisturiser.’” Often, her bewildered clients find it hard to believe that it could all be that simple.

“I tell them, ‘Do these things right, and you’ll notice a change.’ Often women give up too early, but these steps make an impact if you stick with them. It’s never too late to get healthy skin back,” she says. “If you exfoliate well, if you’re nourishing the skin, that skin is going to respond. Skin doesn’t all of a sudden give up and say ‘no’. This routine won’t mean that all your lines and wrinkles will be gone, but it will make a difference.”
