BEST INCOME FUNDS
GOLD WINNER PIMCO
A diverse global approach provides investors with regular returns
G lobal fixed-income funds have performed better than their domestic counterparts over the past 12 months. For investors who are seeking regular returns over the long term they are a valuable addition to a portfolio. PIMCO’s Wholesale Global
Credit fund has won this award for the second year in a row. The fund has a silver analyst rating from Morningstar. It typically contains a sizeable chunk of investment-grade corporate bonds, but exposures to securitised instruments and emerging markets have also been meaningful at times, says Morningstar analyst Tim Wong.
“PIMCO Global Credit is a superior choice on a number of counts. The quality and depth of its personnel and rigorous approach to identifying and building a portfolio of credit securities are particular strengths,” says Wong.
“It is ideally used as a sup-
porting player within a broader fixed-interest portfolio given its credit focus.”
The Bentham Global
Income fund came second, as it did last year. In the previous two years it was a joint winner of this award. The fund invests in a diverse range of fixed-interest asset classes, both domestic and global.
“It’s an excellent and unique option for income and broader portfolio diversification, thanks to its experienced people and value-focused approach,” says Morningstar analyst Elliot Lucas in an early 2017 report.
