ALL OUT IN THE ANDES

-

With the long season now o"cially over, the world’s top riders have already been to some incredible places in 2017, from the deep dust of the Antipodean summer at McGazza Fest and the New Zealand Open, to jumps carved from ice and snow at White Style in Austria. For the enduro crowd, the first big event of the year was the Andes Pacifico in Chile.

It was a truly epic event, with a course that covered just under 200 miles and o!ered 13,365m of vertical descent, passing through a landscape that was as rugged as the riding. The riders seemed to be taking just as many snaps as the event photographers, and we can’t blame them, because there was no shortage of amazing views.

In the women’s race, the UK’s Tracy Moseley took the win (and a break from fatbike snow races – see page 24), a solid 15 minutes ahead of her nearest rival. Frenchman Jérôme Clementz (more on him on page 71) won the men’s by just under a minute after two hours and 41 minutes of racing – that must’ve been some tough competition!
