Mountain Biking UK

EDITOR’S LETTER

-

Guest editing this issue of MBUK is a great honour for me and gives me so many nostalgic feelings that take me back to the days of being a young lad. I used to wait for my subscription to fall through the letterbox and when I got my hands on the mag I’d flick through the pages to see what my heroes were doing that month. Growing up on the Isle of Skye, MBUK was my only access to the biking world.

Being on the cover this issue, having a feature and giving you guys some of my top riding tips in the magazine gives me a real buzz. MBUK was a huge part of my world growing up, and the magazine and all the riders in it are what inspired me to get into trials all those years ago.

Trials now has a special place in my heart, and I’m proud to say that it’s bigger and more accessible than ever. It’s something you can do pretty much anywhere, even right from your doorstep. Whether it’s a wall, small verge, a kerb or just a flat car park, there’ll always be something you can play on and improve your skills. Trials is something that I really enjoy doing by myself or with mates, but I’ll often go out on my own with headphones on, listen to some great music and spend hours trying to solve different puzzles I can ride – it’s like one giant game with never-ending levels!

We live in a really exciting time, with biking being so accessible. There are loads of trail centres scattered around the country, so chances are that you’ll have one close by with all sorts of different trails to ride. It’s an amazing time to go riding, so get out there and get stuck in!
