Gemini Titan 6-cell £299.99
Gemini haven’t changed their unique Titan light since it appeared a couple of years ago. That’s fine, because the unique ‘six LEDs in a line’ layout still puts it in a different class to any other unit here, in terms of being the most texture rich, easiest-to-ride-with light available.
While it looks like they’ve just stuck three of their twin-LED, 1,500-lumen Duo lights side by side, the Titan actually uses a single dedicated case and power is throttled back to 4,000 lumens at full bore. Reach and spread are extremely impressive, but it’s the way the Titan illuminates the trail that really stands out.
The six light sources overlap to give eye friendly, daylight style, 3D positional clarity without any shadows from brake or gear cables. While there’s no battery life indicator, you rarely need to run the Titan at full power. You can also alter each of the three power settings in 10 per cent steps. The wireless remote makes it easy to switch between them, and will also link to a helmet light. While the slim six-cell bag battery is more than ample for most epics, there’s an eight-cell version (£324.99) too.
It’s awkward (but not impossible, if you get an extension cable) to helmet mount the Titan, and even on the bar you’ll need spacers if you’ve got a particularly lumpy stem. Reliability of every Gemini light we’ve used over the years has been faultless, pricing is reasonable and the illumination it provides is literally brilliant.
