S LETTER EDITOR’
We love following the progression of exciting new UK talent and someone we’ve been keeping a close eye on recently is enduro rider Katy Winton. The Scottish pocket rocket was regularly on the EWS podium last year and we reckon she’s a world champ in the making, so were delighted when she agreed to meet up with us and take us round her local trails. And what amazing trails she has at her disposal, living right in the Scottish Borders, a short pedal from Glentress and Innerleithen. There’s unquestionably a huge benefit to be had from having that quality of riding close by, with which to hone skills and keep motivation levels high. But, chatting to Katy, it’s obvious that her mindset and determination are maturing quickly, which has helped her gain more of that success. She’s had plenty of struggles along the way, but the inspiring part is that she didn’t just give in and resign herself to her fate. Instead, she dug in and tried a different tack, adapting her riding to find a greater path, or trail, to success. If you’re struggling with your own progression or just fancy a bit of general inspiration, go and see what you can learn from Katy’s impressive attitude on page 54. Hopefully by the time the season and the better weather begins, you’ll be in the right place to have a great year on your
bike. Here’s wishing her and you the best for a great 2018!
