There’s a definite ‘wild’ theme to this issue of MBUK, which is as much down to the riders we’ve hooked up with as the places we find them in this month. The quality quartet of mountain bike legends Cédric Gracia, Richie Schley, Brett Tippie and Geoff Gulevich kick things off with their unique approach to a MTB adventure through the stunning Italian Dolomites (pg 62). These guys were all super-stylish back in their day and while the backdrop of their adventures may have changed over the years, their riding style definitely hasn’t!

Maybe the modern equivalent of that gnarly bunch are Scottish wildboys the Dudes of Hazzard. Famed for their balls-out way of riding but chilled, if somewhat quirky, lifestyle, we follow them on a serene-looking jaunt around the Isle of Harris in the Hebrides (pg 74). But a Dudes’ trip is never going to be uneventful, as Joe Barnes demonstrates when he attempts a bit of ‘bike sailing’ across one of its stunning beaches…

And then there’s the experience our Ed had on a recent trip to Norway at the Hillbilly Huckfest. Barrels full of beer, mad 50ft gap jumps and lots and lots of denim –this is about as loose as a mountain bike festival can get! Find out whether he survived it on page 68. Maybe you don’t have to get that wild on your next ride, but be sure to

have a bit of that spirit in your head when you next hit the trails!
