Merida’s 16-function tool has almost everything you’re likely to need to keep your bike going on the trail. While its robust build means it weighs a noticeablein-your-pocket 140g, the flat profile and neoprene sleeve ensure it doesn’t dig in if you land or sit on it. Unusually, the tools seem to get stiffer to unfold with age, rather than going floppy, but the tension is adjustable. The comprehensive range of Allen keys (2-8mm) is bolstered with T25 and T10 Torx wrenches, Shimano and Mavic spoke tools, a stumpy metal tyre lever, bottle opener, 8mm socket and CO inflator. There’s even a 4.5cm ‘ruler’ etched into the side for setting sag.
