Onza Ibex FRC RC255a £54.95

-

Onza’s Ibex has a well-spaced tread pattern that looks quite similar to that of Maxxis’s High Roller II. The ‘RC255a’ dual compound pairs 65a rubber on the central knobs and casing with softer 55a side knobs for increased cornering traction. Onza’s ‘FRC’ casing feels stiffer than Maxxis’s ‘EXO Protection’ equivalent, though both are 60TPI. It helps the Ibex hold its shape reasonably well around turns, but is still considerably more pliable than a dual-ply downhill casing, which helps it damp trail chatter. The tyre inflates with masses of volume, so could be a comfortable option if you prefer to run lower pressures. All in all, the Ibex is a good all-rounder, with enough bite to generate traction in softer conditions and well-supported side knobs that don’t squirm much on firmer ground. www.silverfish-uk.com
