CHART TOPPERS
We ask some familiar faces to name their top places to ride. This month, it’s the turn of Andy McKenna, of Scottish guiding company Go-Where
1.braemar & ballater, scotland
“For far too long, this corner of Scotland has been mainly associated with its royal visitors and Balmoral, but anyone who rides here gets served up a hefty portion of big, granitey all-mountain goodness, washed down with some of Scotland’s sublimest loamy singletrack. Bliss. It’s a bikers’ paradise. We like to call it ‘Mountain Royale’.”
2.san miguel de la palma, canary islands
“Moon-like volcanic lava field epicness, carving turns through black volcanic sand to the sea, high-alpine singletrack, beautiful people and relaxed vibes. We landed without knowing much about the place and it blew us away. Can’t wait to go back!”
3.slovenia (all of it!)
“A tiny country with a big heart. We explored for three weeks and every single day was di erent, with lush alpine singletrack, big mountain traverses, views to die for and unrivalled hospitality everywhere we went. You could do a lot worse than speak to local experts Dixie and Anej, at Bike Nomad.”
