Wolf Tooth CAMO chainring system Spider US$27.95, rings from $44.95 (+ shipping)

Wolf Tooth’s CAMO (Chainline And Material Optimization) system takes the pain out of swapping chainrings. It replaces a standard direct-mount ring with a five-arm spider and separate ring, which means you don’t have to remove the crank arm every time you want to change sizes or replace a worn ring. Spiders are available to fit a range of different brands’ cranks and they come in various offsets to suit standard, Boost and fatbike drivetrains. They can only be paired with Wolf Tooth’s five-hole CAMO rings, which, instead of using regular two-piece chainring bolts, use Torx T25 bolts (included) that thread directly into the spider. This saves both weight and faff. There’s a comprehensive choice of round and elliptical rings, in both aluminium and stainless steel, all of which use Wolf Tooth’s ‘Drop-Stop’ narrow/wide profile, which we’ve found to provide great chain retention. In practice, this system really does work well and is a boon for regular ring swappers. We’ve had no issues with bolts loosening or creaking and groaning under power. Should you manage to lose a bolt, T25 replacements are easy to come by and fit. Matt www.wolftoothcomponents.com
