A bent SRAM GX Eagle rear mech has caused me some faff this month. Bashing it on one too many rocks has left it slightly out of kilter and the fine tolerances of 12-speed shifting mean I’ve been unable to get the gears in the middle of the cassette indexed properly. I snapped a chain as a result, and the replacement won’t work properly with my worn cassette. That means a new drivetrain is on the cards. In the interests of durability and penny saving, I’ve decided to go with 11-speed Shimano Deore XT. www.santacruzbikes.co.uk
