The distinctive styling and deep sole of the 2FO ClipLites won’t suit all, but they’re brilliant if you want excellent pedalling without waddling when you walk. There’s just enough heel and toe tread on the ‘SlipNot’ sole to keep you standing in sloppy conditions. The long, plastic-flanged ‘Landing Strip’ cleat pocket makes pedal location easy and lets you set your cleats far back, if you want. Pedal communication is bearable and the ‘Lollipop’ shoe stiffener gives great drive and support when you’re going hard. The reinforced heel, toe box and padded collar add protection and give a secure fit despite the roomy forefoot. While the wrap-over strap doesn’t do much, the double Boa dials are great for on-the-fly tensioning. The shoes are long-term tough despite their low weight, making them worth the initial layout. www.specialized.com
