SPLIT LINK

Chains are made up of alternating inner and outer plates, joined with pins. A split link (aka master link), such as a SRAM PowerLock, Shimano Quick-Link or KMC MissingLink, takes the place of a pair of outer plates and is a quicker and easier way to join/ split a chain than itting a new pin.
