If you like your riding raw and rowdy, Glencoe Mountain Resort in the Scottish Highlands is well worth the trip

It may look a bit odd but there’s still no other light that illuminates the trail the way the Titan does. The recipe is pretty simple – six horizontally-arranged LEDs in an extended version of Gemini’s twin-LED Duo case, with a simple O-ring mount at either end. There’s an operating button on the back, but the wireless remote – with its anti-dazzle and mode change switches – means you don’t have to take your hand off the bar. The six-cell battery sits in a strap-on frame bag and there’s no charge indicator beyond a simple low-power warning light. If that level of guesswork plus sub two-hour run time worries you, Gemini offer an eight-cell version, which adds another 40 minutes for £30 more. You can also adjust each of the three default power settings in 10 per cent steps if you feel the need. In reality, we’ve only ever done that to check it works and we’ve never run out of battery even on the longest, coldest epics. That’s because, while high power delivers enough reach and width for warp speed riding, even in the middle modes, the way the six light sources overlap their beams gives multi-angular 3D context and detail like no other light we’ve used. As a result, you can pick out trail details and make traction/impact judgments almost as well as in daylight. We’ve never had a reliability issue in years of using Gemini lights either, and pricing is reasonable given the unparalleled illumination. www.i-ride.co.uk
