Adventure doesn’ t have to mean jumping on the next plane to South America. Even visiting a new bike park can feel like a trip into the unknown when it’ s built by them an behind the dauntingly gnarly Hard line course!

This issue’s all about going on adventures, but that doesn’t have to mean jumping on the next plane to South America, as Scotty Laughland, Thomas Vanderham and crew do on page 57. There are plenty of challenges closer to home, from exploring the Scottish Highlands (p40), to scaling Snowdon before sunset (p115) or just seeking out new challenges in your own backyard. Even visiting a new bike park can feel like a trip into the unknown, especially when it’s been built by Dan Atherton, the man behind the dauntingly gnarly Red Bull Hardline course (p122)!

Thankfully, the intrepid Dan Milner – who’s taken his bike and camera to some of the world’s wildest places, from the tip of South America to the heavily-guarded interior of North Korea – is on hand to dispel some adventuring myths and give you some pointers (p49). Plus, if you’re a subscriber, there’s a chance to win some great adventure gear, including an Ortlieb waterproof backpack (p54).

If you’re more into schralping turns or sessioning your favourite trails with your mates than boldly going where no one has gone before, don’t worry, because we’ve got you covered with all the usual great tests and advice. All that’s left for me to say is a big congratulations to local boy – and MBUK 337 cover star – Laurie Greenland for taking his first Downhill

World Cup win. Nice one!
