Mountain Biking UK

LET’S NOT FORGET…

WE DON’T HAVE SPACE FOR ALL THE UK’S GREAT FLOW TRAILS, SO HERE ARE TWO MORE MBUK FAVOURITES

-

CWMCARN

There was a period, in the wake of BikePark Wales opening, when it felt like this classic South Wales spot had fallen by the wayside. That time has certainly passed though, and we’d say that right now Cwmcarn is riding better than ever. The red-graded Cafall trail is refreshed and fully open after felling works and, pending COVID 19 delays, the new blue loop should be ready to roll any day now, linking in with the original Twrch trail. www.mbwales.com

SHEFFIELD

When it comes to cities that are switched on for bikes, Shef ield is one of the best. Not only have Steel City residents got the Peak District on their doorstep, but they’ve got their pick of purpose-built low trails too. At Lady Cannings Plantation on the city’s western fringes, there are two short but super-fun blue runs; there’s a 2km red route in the heart of the city at Parkwood Springs; and out in Steve Peat’s stomping ground of Grenoside, you’ll ind the Steel City DH and several other mini downhill lines. www.rideshef ield.org.uk
