Endura SingleTrack II £64.99
The SingleTrack shorts have been part of Endura’s line-up for many years now, with numerous updates and improvements as a direct result of rider feedback. This latest iteration is without a doubt the Scottish company’s best yet, combining many subtle features and excellent hard-wearing fabrics to make them a classic – all this and the price is one of the cheapest on test. They’ve got all the features on our wish list: a good length and profiled knees for pad wearing; external waist adjusters with just enough elasticity that you can pull the shorts on and off easily; double waist poppers; and a pair of deep, zipped hip pockets. To that, Endura have added handy zipped thigh vents and an extra waist pocket.
These shorts nail the tricky balance of feeling very comfortable on the bike, with relatively soft-touch nylon fabrics and large stretch panels, while at the same time being amply rugged. We didn’t once worry about thrashing through undergrowth or grazing trees while wearing them, yet they always felt pliable and unrestrictive. Our confidence in their durability is boosted by the hard-wearing material used on the wear points (cleverly darker-coloured, as saddle wear always lightens the seat of shorts) and triple stitching on all the critical seams. They’re well thought out, well designed and well made, at a very competitive price. www.endurasport.com
