Beaming with joy as she nursed a gorgeous baby in her arms, there’s no denying that Jasmine Yarbrough looks every bit the mother as she laughs with friends. The 33-year-old – who’s been dating Today host Karl Stefanovic, 43, since Christmas – put on the nurturing display while attending a private function recently, as our exclusive photos show, which prompted onlookers to say she seemed ‘very clucky’. Now sources close to the model and fashion designer wonder if she and Karl will be hearing the pitter patter of tiny feet soon, as their ‘very lovely’ relationship goes from strength to strength. ‘Everyone who saw Jasmine holding that gorgeous baby thought she looked like a really natural mother, she was totally in her element,’ observed an onlooker. ‘She seemed very clucky, like she was very at home with a baby in her arms.’ Adds a friend close to Jasmine: ‘She’s been talking about babies a lot lately, she’d love to have one of her own one day. Karl is, of course, a natural with kids, and she knows he’ll be a great dad. ‘At the moment, they’re just taking it one day at a time, but being around her friend’s little ones has definitely given Jasmine – and now Karl – ideas.’
Karl has also been getting up close and personal with plenty of babies in recent weeks, with the Today show host even being snapped with a selection of cute bubs while on location for the show in Griffith last week.
The TV presenter was all smiles as he played with the gorgeous babies – including the adorable nephew of fellow Channel Nine star Sonia Kruger – prompting viewers to comment on how Karl looked ‘sooo happy’ and was ‘clucky’.
‘Jasmine melts every time she sees Karl with a baby,’ says the friend. ‘She loves his playful and loving side, especially when he’s around kids.
‘And I’m sure everyone who saw him with all those babies on Today thought the same thing – he’s a natural.’
The baby whispers come just a week after Jasmine opened up about her relationship with Karl – which started just months after he left his wife of more than 20 years, Cassandra Thorburn – for the first time.
Speaking ahead of her visit to Melbourne as a special guest of the BMW Caulfield Cup carnival, the shoe designer revealed she had struggled with the scrutiny over her and Karl’s controversial relationship.
‘I don’t think anyone expects this or prepares to have this much attention, it’s been very hard,’ she told the Herald Sun.
‘It was tough at the start, but I guess it’s not my focus. I just let it go [and] not add to it as much as I can.
‘I believe in preserving a part of your life just for yourself and your partner to enjoy and nurture, and not to share with the wider audience, as this is sacred, special time.
‘I’ve placed my relationship with my loved ones and my family at the centre of my life, so I think the attention is not something I’m really focused on, but really balancing my life with friends, family and the aspirations for my business.’
Her comments come just two months after Karl opened up about his relationship with Jasmine – and the breakdown of his marriage to Cass.
‘I’ve been through some personal stuff that’s been difficult on everyone in my family,’ he told Stellar. ‘That has been the hardest aspect: the increased public interest, or coverage, makes it more intense to navigate through.
‘I certainly did not expect to meet someone five months after I broke up with my wife. That was not planned, I did not know her before.’
Revealing he’s determined to keep the relationship private, Karl told Stellar: ‘I don’t think that’s fair on anyone involved. It was unexpected and lovely, but we’re going to try to keep a level of privacy to how we’re going and what we’re planning.’ NI
