HOW MEGHAN SAVED KATE
36-year-old Meghan has become Kate’s rock. Friends of the actress say they have a lot in common and have really been there for one another. Kate was able to help guide Meghan through her first public appearance with Harry recently at the Invictus Games in Toronto, giving her lots of pointers and helping to ease her nerves.
‘Meanwhile, Kate has really loved having someone to talk to while she’s been so sick,’ continues the source.
‘She’s in bed most of the time, with no-one to talk to, except for William. So having Meghan stop by or on the other end of the phone has been a godsend.
‘She doesn’t think she could’ve got through these recent months without her.’
In fact, Meghan has even offered to help share the load of Kate’s charity commitments as her pregnancy progresses and after the baby is born.
‘Meghan is really excited about moving into this area of royal life and official duty when she and Harry announce their engagement, so this is perfect for her,’ say an insider.
‘And for Kate, it means she can relax a little bit knowing that Meghan has her back. She’ll be able to enjoy the new baby and get through another difficult pregnancy knowing that the pressure isn’t there to return to work, because Meghan’s now sharing the load.
‘Kate’s so happy she has Meghan in her life now, it’s made the world of difference.’
Sources tell New Idea that Kate was hell-bent on going to last week’s royal World Mental Health Day reception – which was held to commemorate the role mental health workers play in public life – despite her recent pregnancy woes.
‘Kate is feeling a little better, but is certainly not out of the woods in terms of her horrible illness,’ says a well-placed palace source. ‘But she was determined to attend the function at Buckingham Palace because it’s a cause very close to her heart, she didn’t want to let anyone down.
‘She’s a fighter, there’s no doubt about it. Everyone’s just hoping that she feels better soon.’
