THE SHOCKING REASON HE CAN NO LONGER SEE HER
After years of rumours, it’s now been confirmed that Tom Cruise has lost touch with his young daughter Suri. The megastar recently made the shock admission to his long-time pal Maryann Carter when he reached out to her to discuss a Facebook page she runs in his honour. Fed up with his fans posting pictures of 11-year-old Suri on the page, Tom asked Maryann to delete all photos of her, saying: ‘She is no longer part of my life.’ Having stayed in touch onand-off since Tom dated her best friend Diane Cox in high school, Maryann was only too happy to oblige – promptly informing the page’s 3300 followers that Suri is now off limits. ‘I am going to ask that no-one post anything with Suri in the future,’ she posted. ‘She is no longer a part of his life!! If you do, I will erase it!! If you continue, I will have to remove you!! Thanks!’ When asked by one member if the ban includes old photos of Tom and Suri, Maryann curtly replied: ‘No photos!! His request.’ While the post has since been deleted, Maryann has confirmed Tom made the bold request, telling journalist and Scientology whistle-blower Tony Ortega that Tom was concerned about what Suri could find online about herself. According to Maryann, he cares for Suri and he’ll do what he can to protect her.
‘I do know for a fact he said he couldn’t stop it, but he would prefer that nothing of Suri be on his group,’ she says.
Suri has lived with mum Katie Holmes, 38, in New York since their June 2012 split, and the actor has not been photographed with his daughter since August 2012 – where he was snapped frolicking with then six-yearold Suri at Disney’s Typhoon Lagoon water park in Florida.
While recent reports suggest it’s been three years since Tom, 55, had contact with Suri, insiders suggest it’s not by Tom’s choice, but circumstance.
Pal Maryann, meanwhile, points the finger at Scientology for the estrangement. A former member of Tom’s security team agrees, telling New Idea Tom would be disappointed Suri is no longer part of the church.
‘Tom would be told all this by [ Scientology head] Dave [Miscavige],’ the insider reveals. ‘They believe so hardcore in what the Church believes, they believe the Church is ultimately right. They abide to the demands of the Church.’
