Goodbye JUDITH

1947-2017

- NI

Treasured Australian actress Judith Mcgrath passed away on October 20 at the age of just 70. With a career that spanned five decades, Judith is remembered by fans for her roles in some of the country’s most-loved TV dramas – including Prisoner, A Country Practice and All Saints.

Although the circumstances surrounding Judith’s death are not yet known as we go to press, the beloved star passed away surrounded by family and friends in her home town of Brisbane – her management company confirmed.

Judith appeared in a total of 263 episodes of Prisoner from 1979 and played Bernice Hudson on A Country Practice. However, it was the Aussie icon’s role in Logie-nominated All Saints that cemented her place in TV history.

Playing Yvonne ‘Von’ Ryan in the hospital drama, which also featured Georgie Parker, Judith was the only cast member to star in all 12 seasons of the show.

‘I learnt so much from this talented, witty person,’ Georgie wrote on Instagram, after hearing of her co-star’s passing.

‘No bulls*** allowed with this woman.

‘Didn’t get to tell you how much you meant to me, but you would have told me to shut up anyway. When I signed off in an email, I’d say ‘love me’ and you’d say ‘I do’. Well I love YOU.

‘And all of us at All Saints were so very lucky to have worked alongside you. Can’t believe it actually.’

Judith’s management noted it wasn’t just her acting she was known for.

‘Judith was as famous for her kindness, wit and generosity to her many friends and colleagues as she was famous for her roles in Prisoner, A Country Practice and Around The Twist,’ Lee Leslie Management said in a statement.

The legendary actress’ most recent role was as Maria Crawley in Winners & Losers.

‘No! OH, wonderful, dry, sharp as a tack, Jude! Thank you for everything, Jude. What a bloody privilege. Xx,’ co-star Virginia Gay tweeted.

Goodbye Judith. You will be missed.
