na shocking new royal bombshell, Camilla Duchess of Cornwall has been slammed for ‘sabotaging’ Prince Harry’s wedding to Meghan Markle.
Well-placed palace sources tell New Idea tensions are high after Harry, 33, confronted his stepmother Camilla with a string of accusations.
It’s believed the 70-year-old’s ‘constant meddling’ has forced Harry and Meghan, 36, to postpone their engagement announcement until the end of the year. Camilla has also been accused of forcing at least 14 key staff members to resign from Buckingham Palace, which has thrown wedding preparations into disarray.
The scandals have forced Harry to tell Camilla to back off, demanding she end her attempts to sabotage their nuptials.
‘Harry is simply not going to put up with Camilla treating his bride or his relationship with anything other than respect,’ says the palace insider.
‘He’s told Camilla to back off, and stop giving him and his bride a hard time. This is the first time he’s really gone headto-head with Camilla since his mother’s death, and it felt good to finally stand up for himself.
‘All Harry wants to do is get on with married life with Meghan, but all these obstacles keep on popping up and he feels Camilla is to blame.
‘The last straw was the mass walkout of all the palace staff, which he believes is Camilla’s doing. She drove them away with her outrageous demands and diva behaviour – right when it was crunch time with planning their wedding. Harry is livid.’
UK reports suggest the palace has been plunged into ‘disarray’ by the staff walkout, which was sparked by claims of them being overworked and underpaid.
‘The place is in turmoil and the mood is getting steadily worse,’ a source tells The Sun. ‘People work all hours God sends for no extra pay. Nobody gets any time off or sees their families. It’s too much. At least seven chefs have quit, plus other members of staff. Some are very experienced and won’t be easy to replace.’
Palace sources tell New Idea all fingers of blame are being pointed at Camilla, who ‘uses the staff 24/7’ and doesn’t care about throwing Wills, Kate and, of course, Harry’s plans to the side.
‘Because the Queen now lives at Windsor Castle most of the time, chefs often have to go there, then back to Buckingham Palace for functions,’ the source tells The Sun. ‘Prince Charles uses the staff to throw events. Chefs are also asked to help out at Kensington Palace for William, Kate and Harry, plus dinners at St James’s Palace.’
As a result of Camilla’s sabotage, the Queen reportedly met with Harry and Meghan last week – asking them to look at wedding dates in early 2018.
‘They all agreed it would be better to wait for the staff to be more settled,’ says the source.
‘Hopefully Camilla will back off from here on in.’
Wedding plans have also been stalled thanks to Meghan’s sister Samantha. The 52-yearold is writing a book about her royal bride-to-be sibling, which has caused nervousness among the senior royals.
‘No-one wants any skeletons coming out of Meghan’s closet so close to a wedding announcement,’ says the source. ‘The Queen is very nervous.’
However, last week Samantha told UK TV show Good Morning Britain that her book wouldn’t be a nasty tell-all, insisting Meghan will be an amazing addition to the royal family. ‘It’s true I’m writing a book, but it’s not a tell-all – rather it’s about the beautiful nuances of our family home,’ she revealed.
Denying persistent rumours of a rift with Meghan, Samantha went on to say: ‘In my view, you are either sisters or not and she’s my sister. She’s absolutely lovely.
‘She’s strong, educated and graceful and she will be a compliment to her work. The British people and the world will be surprised by how graceful and lovely she is.
‘She will bring so much to a role as part of the royal family. The world will be surprised.
‘She’s definitely confident as a woman and in her relationship with Prince Harry, with the love they have for each other.’
