BAD to the BONE

THE MUMS ARE BACK – AND THIS TIME IT’S CHRISTMAS!

-

These mums are so bad, they’re good! But Kiki, Amy and Carla reach new heights of stress when their own mums visit town for Christmas.

Already under pressure to put on the perfect Christmas for their kids, when the ladies’ mums surprise them out of the blue, it’s enough to send them over the edge.

Each of the ladies’ mums brings her own set of issues. Amy (Mila Kunis) battles against her mum’s (Christine Baranski) relentless and cruel critiques, Kiki (Kristen Bell) struggles with her mum’s (Cheryl Hines) stage-fiveclinger-style love, and Carla (Kathryn Hahn) tries to keep her mum (Susan Sarandon) sober enough to not cause a scene.

In the midst of cooking, wrapping presents, decorating and shopping, Kiki, Amy and Carla decide to reclaim Christmas in true bad mums style.

For actresses and real-life friends Mila, Kristen and Kathryn, returning to their favourite bad mums was something they embraced wholeheartedly. But as Mila admits, they didn’t get to spend as much time together as she would have liked.

‘I wish there were more scenes of us together,’ Mila revealed to E! Live. ‘The most fun I have making these films is being in the same scenes with these girls. It’s the truth. Our characters have such independent storylines in this one, everyone is dealing with their mothers and it’s amazing, but when our characters do get together, in real-life I feel we have so much fun shooting that I wish there was more of it in the film.’

In between

filming the first movie and the sequel, Mila and her husband of two years, Ashton Kutcher, had their second baby, Dimitri. Already a mother to little girl Wyatt, three, Mila told Entertainment Tonight about her approach to becoming a parent the second time around. ‘I’m a little bit less stressed over what to anticipate, and I was pretty relaxed with the first,’ she explained. So what Christmas traditions are upheld in the Kunis-kutcher household? ‘So far, our tradition is no presents for the kids,’ Mila admitted. ‘We’re instituting it this year. We’d like to take a charitable donation to the children’s hospital, or whatever you want.’ For co-star Kristen Bell, her and husband Dax Shepard tend to go allout come Christmas. ‘We get very crafty around the house, and we have 12 different [Christmas] sweaters and four sets of matching pyjamas,’ Kristen said. ‘That’s what makes it the most fun – [kids Delta, two, and Lincoln, four] love matching.’ NI
