Home And Away: is Roo OK?

PANIC ENSUES WHEN SHE IS RUSHED TO HOSPITAL WITH MYSTERY PAINS

ummer Bay is set to be rocked when one of its favourite residents Roo Stewart suffers a serious injury as a result of a traumatic accident. Roo (Georgie Parker) is initially shocked and rattled after the incident, but relieved that no permanent damage has been done. But later that day, the Bay stalwart collapses. ‘It’s pretty clear something is very wrong,’ Georgie reveals to New Idea. ‘She is very keen to play it down, but in the end, it’s obvious that there is a serious problem.’ A worried Alf (Ray Meagher) rushes her to the hospital and examinations reveal that Roo has a fractured vertebrae.

It’s been a rough few months for Roo – she collapsed earlier this year after suffering an ectopic pregnancy.

‘Roo has had her ups and downs physically, but this knocks her for six,’ Georgie explains.

‘And this time around, she has terrible nerve pain that proves to be very distressing.’

After several tests, Roo is left with two life-altering choices – spinal surgery, which may make her a paraplegic, or to suffer from chronic pain for the rest of her life.

And this devastating news comes on top of what has been a tumultuous year for the Stewarts.

Recently, Summer Bay’s iconic family was turned upside down by the arrival of troubled teen and long-lost member, Ryder (Lukas Radovich).

But things were finally starting to settle down with his decision to stay in the Bay and live with Alf and Roo.

‘Roo is extremely excited about Ryder not only being in the Bay, but being a member of the family,’ Georgie reveals.

‘She’s very keen for them all to have a healthy relationship and get along. And to give Ryder stability.’

Although, the newcomer certainly ruffled a few feathers when he arrived on the scene.

‘Alf at first was reluctant to invest too much in a relationship with Ryder. He was convinced that he would and should go back and live with his mother, Roo’s sister Quinn,’ Georgie explains.

‘But Roo has other ideas. She is happy that Ryder has come into their lives.’

And now the reunited family will be put to the test with Roo’s health issues.

Will her injury jeopardise Ryder’s future of living with the Stewarts?

And will Roo be able to get the treatment she needs?
