Better Homes and Gardens: Christmas tips and tricks

BETTER HOMES AND GARDENS

-

Laughter and merriment boom through the halls of the beautiful beachside home on the NSW Central Coast. It may not be Christmas just yet, but the Better Homes And Gardens team is certainly in a festive mood!

Show host Johanna Griggs tells New Idea that the lifestyle experts relish the chance to get together for the special episode every year.

‘We’ve been doing a lot more together this year, which has been so lovely,’ she spills. ‘Everyone is enjoying that there’s a lot more crossover and a chance to actually just hang out with each other.’ This year, the team decided to head to Copacabana to film a getaway Christmas. ‘It seemed appropriate because people do go away at Christmas, and so how do you make it as fuss-free as possible,’ the 44-year-old explains. ‘We kept it really simple and used nature around us for the decorations on the table. Tara just went outside and foraged in the yard to do the decorations. ‘For the food, we made sure it was easy to cook if you’re in a place with an oven you’re not used to or a barbecue.’ From festive recipes – such as Fast Ed’s Campari and orange glazed ham – to top tips for looking after your pets and garden over the hot summer holiday period, Better Homes And Gardens have got Christmas covered!

Plus, Jason Hodges and Adam Dovile are teaming up for a heartwarming makeover that embraces the true meaning of the season.

As for Johanna’s own Christmas, she and her family are doing things a little bit differently this year as well.

‘We’re having a white Christmas,’ she says.

‘For the boys’ 21st birthdays, we said they could have a party or we would go away for a white Christmas and they chose the trip, which we are stoked about!’

However, plans have since changed... for the best reason!

Missing from the celebrations will be the popular presenter’s

youngest son Joe, who will remain at home in Sydney to prepare for the arrival of Johanna’s first grandchild.

‘Joe will be at home preparing for his bub,’ the gushing grandmother-to-be explains.

‘It’s just so exciting for him and Katie!’

Johanna, a former professional swimmer, announced the exciting news in September.
