Historic celebrations seem to keep on coming for the British royal family!
Just weeks after announcing Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s fairytale engagement, it seems the palace is set to announce that Prince William and wife Kate will welcome not one, but TWO new adorable babies in April.
A fresh report from the US has revealed the adored royal couple have recently spilled to close family and friends that they are expecting twin baby girls – and it’s believed the new princesses are identical!
‘[Kate] had an inkling it might be twins, because she is gaining more weight this time around than she did with her previous pregnancies,’ a source told America’s OK! magazine.
‘[She and William] always said they would feel blessed to have even one more child – to get two at once is a dream!’
Indeed, Kate’s bump appears to be much larger at this point in her pregnancy than with George or Charlotte – meaning she won’t be able to hide her secret for much longer! And while the happy couple are believed to be planning on releasing an official statement at a later date, it hasn’t stopped them sharing the exciting news with their nearest and dearest, including both their parents and siblings, and, of course, with the Queen.
‘Word is that the Queen was overjoyed,’ says the magazine’s insider.
Already proud parents to Prince George, four, and Princess Charlotte, two, insiders say the news of twin girls was especially thrilling for Wills, who says: ‘Having a daughter is a very different dynamic.’
‘Truthfully, Wills had his hopes set on another daughter,’ says the insider. ‘Diana always yearned for a little girl of her own, so William likes to think of her smiling down, sharing in their joy.’
And while the prospect of welcoming twins would be daunting for any parent, no matter how seasoned, Wills says he loves being a dad and has every confidence in Kate’s ability to handle whatever challenges motherhood throws her way.
‘I’m very lucky in the support I have from Catherine. She’s an amazing mother and a fantastic wife,’ he explains.
‘I adore my children very much and I’ve learned a lot about myself and about being a family, just from having my own children, and it’s amazing how much you pick up just in those moments.’
And with the April due date fast approaching, it appears that the couple are doing everything they can to prepare siblings George and Charlotte – and themselves! – for the twins’ soon arrival.
‘Kate isn’t worried about any jealousy,’ the OK! source says. ‘George took to his little sister right away and Charlotte is an absolute sweetheart, who’s been dying for a baby brother or sister. But there’s no doubt that jumping from a family of four to six is going to take some adjustment.’
While the couple currently have nanny Maria Borrallo on board to help them out, they prefer to be as hands-on as possible and have family – including Kate’s mum Carole and sister Pippa, along with future sister-in-law Meghan – lining up to lend a helping hand.
‘The families have been sworn to secrecy about this news, but the excitement in the palace is palpable,’ says the OK! source.
