with ‘clinical depression and anxiety’ for a number of years.

‘This whole persona of me being very confident, that’s probably as far from the truth as you can get,’ the 30-year-old accountant said.

‘A lot of that bravado comes from a place of insecurity. No-one ever guesses that I have mental health issues because I present myself in a certain way.’

While she’s aware viewers may take her ‘direct approach’ in the wrong way, Alicia asks people to look below the surface.

‘I want to raise awareness for clinical depression and anxiety,’ she states. ‘It is something I’ve suffered with for the last few years and I’ve been very good about seeking help in the last year or two, but before that I definitely struggled.

‘I hit about 28 and just stopped giving a crap about what people thought of me. But now that this is all happening, all of that has come back to the front.

‘We are going to be judged by all of Australia and it’s scary.’

While Alicia is ‘much better’ these days, she has natural remedies to thank for getting her back on a more even keel.

‘Meditation helps and any form of physical exercise where your heart rate is made to rise,’ she says. ‘There’s got to be an element of making your body uncomfortable to make your mind calm.’
