TIME TO SAY ‘I DO’

ROYAL WEDDING HARRY & MEGHAN

-

Truly a princess in the making, Meghan looked every bit the royal as she elegantly took her final steps as a single woman. She left the crowd breathless as she walked up the stairs to the church with her veil floating beautifully behind her, held aloft by delighted twins Brian and John Mulroney, the seven-year-old sons of Meghan’s best friend Jessica Mulroney.

Stealing the show momentarily with their excited giggles, the twins managed to remain composed as they walked into the church holding Meghan’s veil off the ground.

Aside from Meghan, it was little Princess Charlotte who was the main attraction on the steps of the church.

Playing up for the cameras, the tiny royal held firmly onto mum Kate’s hand as she soaked up the attention.

But after meeting the priest at the top of the stairs, it was time for Meghan to marry the prince of her dreams.

It was Hollywood glamour meets old-world British royalty when Meghan made her way through the church to Prince Harry.

Ever the modern woman, Meghan walked down the aisle alone, before being greeted by Harry’s father Prince Charles halfway to the altar.

Arm-in-arm, Meghan and her future fatherin-law walked towards Prince Harry, as the star-studded guests stood blown away by the beautiful bride.

As Meghan approached the altar, the emotional groom was taken aback by his bride’s beauty.

‘You look amazing, I missed you,’ he gushed to Meghan when she arrived at his side.

When the pair stood hand-in-hand to share their vows, Harry wiped away tears – clearly overcome by the magnitude of the moment and the love he felt for his bride.

‘It was a beautiful moment,’ says royal expert Phil Dampier.

A relaxed service by royal standards, there was a lovely mix of multiculture and celebrity. The ceremony also blended modern and traditional elements, with a gospel choir that stunned with their rendition of Stand By Me.

‘The service was wonderful and had a good mix of tradition and modernity,’ Phil tells New Idea. ‘Meghan bowed to the Queen, although it wasn’t picked up by the cameras.’

Phil states Harry’s mother Princess Diana was ‘definitely there in spirit’, looking over her youngest son as he finally married his princess bride.

‘There were some beautiful nods to Diana,’ he says. ‘I thought Harry looked close to tears when his aunt Lady Jane Fellowes made the reading from Song of Solomon, and during Diana’s favourite hymn Guide Me Oh Thou Great Redeemer.’
