A RIGHT ROYAL LAUGH
It was the moment no-one – especially the royal family – expected, with the sermon from Reverend Michael Curry proving to be a breath of fresh air.
And the lighter moment, which took place in the middle of the ceremony, was not lost on the young royals – with their response teetering on hysterical!
Many viewers noticed their reactions to the speech that was indeed different to what is normally seen in the Church of England.
Princess Beatrice stole the show with her eye-popping reaction to the reverend’s words, which he opened up with a quote by Martin Luther King Jr.
‘All the younger royals like Zara and Bea were giggling at the American vicar,’ Phil Dampier says.
‘He spoke too long, but moments like that make weddings. You don’t want it to be too stage managed.’
Even Prince Harry and Meghan struggled to stifle their giggles as they saw the lighter side of his stirring speech.
In a powerful and entertaining address that left some members of the royal family looking bemused, even as others laughed and nodded, Bishop Michael Curry told the service: ‘There’s power in love. Love can help and heal when nothing else can. There’s power in love to lift up and liberate when nothing else will.’
However, according to Channel Seven’s Sunrise star Edwina Bartholomew, there was one member of the royal family who wasn’t stirred by the sermon.
‘It looked to me like Prince Philip fell asleep at one point,’ she said, laughing.
