AFTER 18 MONTHS OF HELL THE HOME AND AWAY HEARTTHROB HAS TWO THINGS TO CELEBRATE
AN EWING has been given a second shot at love – and this time he’s playing for keeps. As New Idea can exclusively reveal, a wedding and a baby are soon on the cards for the former Home And Away hunk.
It’s been a harrowing 18 months for the father-of-one. Following a messy divorce from ex-wife Marni Little, along with fall-out over domestic violence allegations dating back to 2011, his personal life has been pretty turbulent to say the least.
The couple wed in 2012 and welcomed their son Archie into the world in September 2014, only to end their three-year marriage in December 2015. They have been co-parenting three-year-old Archie since.
While Dan still has regrets over the collapse of his marriage and has openly blamed himself for the breakdown, it’s not a case of once bitten, twice shy with his latest relationship.
In fact, it’s quite the opposite, as there are wedding bells for the 32-year-old actor and girlfriend Kat Risteska in the not-too-distant future – along with the pitter-patter of tiny feet soon too.
‘It’s not a matter of if but when,’ a close friend spills. ‘I’d say we will be hearing something very soon. I know they are both smitten and can’t wait to make it official.’
It’s also been heavily hinted among friends that Kat would make a great mother.
‘They’ve got a lot of love to share and would love to have a child of their own. I know they’ve spoken about it. At the moment, it’s all about timing,’ the friend confessed. ‘Dan is getting another chance at happiness. He deserves it.’ The TV star has been very vocal about his change in fortune recently. For the upturn in his career and new-found sense of optimism, he credits Kat.
Last year he told The Daily Telegraph that the dancer had ‘changed his life’ and he wouldn’t be so ‘positive if it wasn’t for her’.
‘Kat stood by Dan when he must have felt his world was caving in. She never wavered – not once,’ New Idea’s source says. ‘She was completely selfless, putting Dan’s needs before her own. She accepted Archie as her own while Dan was going through issues of his own. It was a nightmare 18-months for Dan. Marriage break-ups can be messy, but this was quite extraordinary.
‘It was brutal and, yes, Dan copped a lot – more than he or anyone ever should.’
Now with wedding bells and baby cries on the horizon, it seems there’s only good things to come for the actor and his new beau.
‘A wedding, definitely! A baby for sure. What happens after that, who knows?’ the close friend adds.
‘I KNOW THEY ARE BOTH SMITTEN AND CAN’T WAIT TO MAKE IT OFFICIAL’
