OUR MIRACLE WEDDING

THE SUNRISE WINNERS LIVED A NIGHTMARE E

-

xchanging vows live before the nation on Sunrise – with everyone from Kochie and Sam to celebrity celebrant Greg Evans by their side – would be enough to make any bride and groom nervous. But certainly not loved-up duo Kate and Nick.

Winners of this year’s Sunrise Marry In The Morning $100,000 luxury wedding package in tropical Fiji, the Perth couple couldn’t be calmer – or have warmer feet – in the countdown to their breakfast TV nuptials on Friday, June 8.

As Kate and Nick reveal, they’ve faced more in their two years together than many couples do in a lifetime. And now they can’t wait to embark on the most romantic of new beginnings.

‘As long as I see Nick at the end of the aisle, I know everything will be fine,’ says Kate.

Six months into their relationship, Nick fell critically ill. By November 2016, the young gym owner had lost 20kg and was unable to walk.

‘Things became very serious, very quickly,’ says Kate, 33. ‘He was knocking on death’s door.’

Over the next few months, Nick, 34, saw nine specialists until a diagnosis came – he had a stomach parasite.

‘We did have a really rough start to our relationship,’ says Kate. ‘But Nick’s now 85 per cent better.’

On April 20 this year, Nick happily proposed. ‘I knew Kate was the one,’ he reveals.

As for the couple’s decision to apply for the Sunrise competition – there was no hesitation.

‘What a great opportunity to get married in one of the most beautiful places in the world and take our family with us as a thank you for their support,’ says Kate.
