‘I didn’t have an entree’, ‘my chicken salad wasn’t as much as Paul’s Osso Bucco’, and ‘I’m on a cleanse’. Phrases from tables in restaurant­s everywhere. We took a call from a restaurate­ur who said split bills add half an hour to his staff’s time. Yes, I’m sure it’s tedious, but it’s unavoidabl­e. Next he’ll complain he has to cook each person a separate meal! Why not put one giant pot on the table and have everyone tuck in? Hang on... that’s called boarding school.
