PRINCE LOUIS’ OFFICIAL CHRISTENING PICS
GOING OFF WITHOUT A HITCH, LITTLE PRINCE LOUIS’ CHRISTENING DAY WAS FILLED WITH FAMILY AND LAUGHTER
The Duchess of Cambridge looked so contented as she gazed adoringly at her new son Prince Louis in the official royal portraits that were released last week from his christening held at The Chapel Royal, St James’s Palace on July 9.
Four stunning images were initially released from the session, illustrating the happiness of the day – most notably the one of Kate cradling her 12-week-old son in the gardens of Clarence House.
Kate wore a stunning Alexander Mcqueen dress, while Louis wore a replica of the royal christening robe created in 1841 for Queen Victoria’s eldest daughter, Victoria, the Princess Royal.
This gown was worn by all the royal babies, including The Queen, her children and her grandchildren, but in 2008 the gown was too delicate to use, and Angela Kelly was appointed to recreate a replica of the original.
A fifth image was released the next day, which was possibly the stand out portrait. It features Kate looking over her shoulder and beaming with joy while little Louis giggles.
In the subsequent family photos, the Duchess of Sussex stole the show in an elegant olive dress by Ralph Lauren. Kate’s pregnant sister Pippa also stunned in a custom-made Alessandra Rich outfit. Her mum Carole Middleton wore an eye-catching pale blue silk number by Suzannah.
In two other pictures released, Louis’ two cheeky siblings George and Charlotte also captivated the camera with their winning smiles and adorable poses. The photographer Matt Holyoak said: ‘I was truly honoured at being asked to take the official photographs at the christening of Prince Louis, and to witness at first hand such a happy event.
‘Everyone was so relaxed and in such good spirits, it was an absolute pleasure. I only hope I have captured some of that joy in my photographs,’ he added.
