BEC’S NEW TV AMBITION

-

After years as a full-time mum, Bec Hewitt has landed her first TV gig since her children were born. But New Idea can exclusively reveal this is just a stepping stone towards the Hewitt family’s ultimate goal: their own reality TV show!

With a reputation for being fiercely guarded about their private lives, it’s a surprise to learn that Bec and Lleyton’s long-term plan is to star on a show about their lives.

The shock news comes just days after Bec announced a career comeback hosting a new travel series. The former Home And Away actress is set to leave her children for the very first time as she returns to our screens after 13 years.

Timed with Lleyton’s pending retirement and all three of their kids – Mia, 12, Cruz, nine, and Ava, seven – launching modelling careers, it seems the perfect opportunity for the famous family to cash in.

‘They are looking at a number of options for their future and having their own fly-on-thewall show is certainly an exciting one,’ says our source. ‘Being a big television star has always been Bec’s dream and with all three kids sharing her passion, it’s a great fit.’

With her tennis star husband’s support, the Logie nominee is pulling out all the stops to impress her new network bosses in the hope of landing a lucrative deal.

‘It’s true Lleyton likes their privacy, but since he started commentating at the tennis, he has mellowed to the idea a bit more,’ says the source. ‘And he also feels people sometimes get the wrong idea about him, so he sees it as a way to set some records straight along the way.’

The program, which could follow a similar format to successful US shows such as Keeping Up With The Kardashians and The Osbournes, would show the Hewitts at work, touring the world and juggling family life. It would also give fans an insight into the Hewitt home and their kids, who are embarking on their own careers in entertainment.

It’s also been no secret that the couple have taken some hits financially over recent years, with both their Melbourne penthouse and Adelaide mansion selling at a loss. A lucrative TV deal will no doubt be appreciated by astute businessman Lleyton, who’s looking into various plans for his post-tennis retirement.

‘Allowing cameras to follow them around means he can just go about his daily business while making money and building the Hewitt brand,’ says the source. ‘That obviously sounds very appealing, but he is also only too aware that TV requires some dramatic moments and no-one knows if he is ready to sign off on the “nothing is off limits” clause just yet.’
