‘ELLEN MADE US FAMOUS’

It’s not just their long hair, that gets these 12-year-old twins recognised. Elias and his brother Zion are known around the world for their jaw-dropping piano skills, and they are set to showcase what they can do on the hit show, Little Big Shots. But, the piano prodigies have one very special person to thank for their fame – Ellen Degeneres!

Back in 2014, the famous talk-show host invited the boys to appear on her show. After charming Ellen with his adorable personality, Elias played the piano for a speechless audience and the brothers later rapped Kanye West’s Gold Digger together. The brothers have since returned to appear on the show several times.

‘She’s awesome and is really nice,’ Zion tells New Idea.

‘I’ve been on Ellen a few times,’ Elias adds. ‘She is probably my favourite celebrity I have met.’

The twins also managed to make an impression on Ellen, who later tweeted that it was one of the ‘most memorable interviews’ she had ever done.

After their appearance on the hit talk show, the brothers became a global success, travelling the world showcasing their amazing piano skills.

Both brothers have performed on several television shows in the US, including America’s Got Talent and Superkids. The piano prodigies have been performing since they were just five, but their piano-playing skills started even earlier than that.

‘We started playing when we were three,’ Zion explains.

‘Nah, when we were two,’ corrects Elias. ‘We were two in diapers playing Superstition by Stevie Wonder in the right pitch. So, my mum knew we had this thing called absolute pitch, which is the ability to identify any note without any point of reference.’

The twins not only play piano, they also sing, rap and dance. Elias has played at Carnegie Hall four times and Zion has recorded an album and written a science book.

But when it comes to what they want to do when they are older, they couldn’t be more different.

‘I want to be a concert pianist,’ says Elias. But it’s a different story for Zion.

‘I want be a doctor,’ he says.

Twins Elias and Zion share a talent for music, but when it comes to the future, one wants to be a concert pianist, while the other would like to become a doctor. The duo have wowed US celebrities like Ellen, who says the twins were one of her ‘most memorable interviews’.
