THE DUCHESS OF HEARTS

MEGHAN EVOKES MEMORIES OF DIANA DURING HER AUSSIE TOUR

-

Echoing memories of Diana by wearing some of the late princess’ precious jewels, the Duchess of Sussex’s mannerisms are also giving royal fans goosebumpinducing flashbacks of Prince Harry’s late mother.

As the Duke and Duchess of Sussex continue to dazzle on their Australian tour, it’s clear to see that Meghan’s relaxed and compassionate approach to members of the public bears a striking resemblance to Diana, who was affectionately named The People’s Princess.

During a walkabout at Sydney Opera House on the first day of their tour, the royal couple were inundated with flowers, gifts and teddy bears following their exciting baby announcement earlier that day.

But when Harry spotted 98-year-old war widow Daphne Dunne – who has met the Prince during two of his other visits to Australia – in the crowd, he immediately stopped everything to make sure he and his new wife spent extra time with the wheelchair-bound pensioner.

Politely introducing herself to Mrs Dunne, a beaming Meghan said, “I’m so glad I got to meet you. Harry has told me all about your special bond. It’s so lovely that you came to see us, thank you.

“Hopefully next time we’ll have our little one with us.”

Meghan was hailed as a role model by female students during a visit to Dubbo Senior College to see the work of the Clontarf Foundation’s Girls’ Academy, a nationwide program that improves the educational outcomes of young Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islanders.

“Us being Aboriginal girls and her being of a different race and being accepted into the royal family shows us anyone can be accepted,” said 17-yearold student Kieasha Ross.

“She asked us what we wanted to do when we left school and our dreams and desires. We asked her about her impression of Australia and she said she loved it. She inspired us.

Some of the girls want to go into social work and she said how her mum did it and it was very rewarding.”

In scenes reminiscent of Diana, Meghan happily talked to school children in Dubbo. Diana would famously greet her fans personally and spend time chatting to them – and it seems Meghan is no different, stopping as she did to receive a big hug from adorable schoolboy, Luke.

And proving she really does have a heart of gold, the newly pregnant duchess even found the time to bake a homemade loaf of banana bread for the family of a farm she and Harry paid a visit to in Dubbo.

According to reports, Meghan baked the treat – which had chocolate and ginger in it – in the kitchen of Admiralty House ahead of her flying visit to the regional NSW town.
