OUR EXPERT HEALTH GURUS
Our two health experts who came on board to help train, guide, motivate and share knowledge with our families throughout the 6-Week Challenge are also thrilled with their amazing results and dedication along the way.
REBECCA MILLER, CLINICAL NUTRITIONIST
“I’ve absolutely loved being involved in the 6-Week Health Challenge! Each week I felt so excited and happy to show these families how easy and satisfying it can be to eat healthy. Even though I made a personalised meal plan for the mother of the families as a base to work from, I ensured that all of the meals I devised would be appealing to the children and partners, and added in extra carbs for the kids. It was wonderful to hear how much they all enjoyed the meals and never felt hungry.
Challenges always arise – that’s life, and I actually love it when they do as we can work around them and it’s great knowledge to have for the future. When you’re trying hard 80-90 percent of the time it’s enough, so when things go off track it’s not going to matter – it’s about the long run. All the results achieved by the families are mind-blowing! There’s nothing more motivating than seeing yourself gradually dropping weight every week, and when you’re eating healthy food that’s also satisfying and tasty while dropping weight – why not continue?!
For me, I love doing what I do as I’ve been through it myself. After years of battling with weight fluctuations, a slow thyroid and chronic digestive issues in my teens through to my early 20s, it ignited my passion to research ways to use food to assist with these issues. To know my knowledge, success and expertise has rubbed off and helped others is extremely satisfying and rewarding!” healthwithbec.com.
PENNY WALSH, HEALTH & FITNESS LIFESTYLE PROFESSIONAL
“I’ve really enjoyed being part of the challenge, not only to advise and direct the families towards new fitness regimens but also motivate them to make a lifestyle change for the future. When working out fitness routines for the families I selected a range of programs depending on their needs and I took into account any injuries and how they enjoyed working out. I created inclusive family workouts with minimal equipment requirements. I also recommended outdoor power walks as family activities, allowing the participants quality bonding time.
Of course, as with any new fitness program, challenges will arise but these only motivate me more to help the families overcome them! Some of the issues which arose were fatigue, lack of drive and muscular soreness – all completely normal for these types of new challenges. We overcame these issues with maintaining regular contact and I ensured to keep them motivated and positive. As a mum of three myself, it was also great to see children involved and their parents being positive role models for them.
Hearing all the positive feedback – from participants feeling more energised, weight loss, family bonding, body strengthening, happiness and improved sleep – has also been so rewarding. The amazing results really bring a smile to my face. I’m so proud of them all!” pennywalshpersonaltraining.com.au.
