It’s a humid Sydney morning and we’re on set with AFLW’S Nicola Barr and NRLW’S Quincy Dodd. At just 22 and 18, respectively, these impressive women are two of our brightest football stars and the models for our weekend fashion shoot – which shows us how to stay stylish and comfy when we’re off-duty.

As faces of Harvey Norman’s Team Harvey Junior campaign, they’re also here to talk about women’s sport and why it’s important to encourage young girls to get involved. “Rugby League has taught me a lot,” Cronulla Sharks star Quincy tells New Idea, “not only how to play the game but I’ve met so many people and, most importantly, I’m out there getting fit and healthy.”

Nicola believes it’s important to encourage young girls to step out of their comfort zone, adding: “Sport builds resilience. In football, you literally get knocked down and you have to get up again!”

If given the chance to go back in time, both women would encourage their younger selves to embrace challenges and keep going at all costs. “If something bad happens, don’t drop your head,” Quincy says. “Just keep working hard and don’t give up.”

GWS Giants star Nicola adds: “It’s important to throw yourself in the deep end and work out how to deal with different situations … it’ll set you up to be able to face challenges as an adult.”

Back on set, both stars are relaxed and confident in front of the camera, showing us how to take our activewear from workout to brunch. As the weather starts to cool down, simply team your sporty pieces with classic outerwear such as a puffer or cropped jacket.
