CHRISTIE ‘BEN SIGNED UP WITHOUT TELLING ME!’

-

Christie and Ben have been dating for close to two years, but while Christie is determined to settle down, Ben wants to maintain his partying ways.

Now the couple are set to face their problems on Channel Seven’s new program The Super Switch, which sees six couples swap partners to highlight what is going wrong in their own relationships.

Based on their hit show

Seven Year Switch, this series will take the experiment a step further and see the couples living in two separate houses where they will undertake group therapy sessions before reuniting with their partners to decide if they will stay together, or end things for good.

When it came to going on the show, Christie, 28, admits that Ben, 35, completely blindsided her.

“He actually applied by himself, I had no idea,” she tells New Idea.

“He applied for it and got through the first few rounds of casting and then he goes, ‘by the way I’ve applied for this show’.”

Christie was completely taken aback by his decision.

“I was just like, ‘What have you done?’ ” she recalls.

“I didn’t know anything about it, so I was a bit overwhelmed, but at the same time it was kind of exciting.”

And, it didn’t take much convincing on Ben’s behalf before Christie decided that she was in.

“I think once I found out a bit more about the show, I was like yeah this does suit us, we do need this.”

Of course, she did have some reservations about them swapping partners as Ben has cheated on a partner in the past.

“It is always at the back of my mind that he has played up in a past relationship, so it does cause a bit of insecurity,” she says.

“But at the same time that was a long time ago and he has learnt from his mistakes: I know he wouldn’t do that to me.”

Of course, Christie almost missed out on meeting Ben, who could have ended up with Georgia Love after appearing on her season of The Bachelorette.

“He really liked Georgia but he says he wasn’t for her and he knew that from the start,” Christie reveals.

“Maybe if he had made it to the end she would have liked him, but I wouldn’t have got him if she took him any further.”

Christie does admit she watched Ben on the show. “I actually remember watching it and my mum called me downstairs and my mum said ‘Christie, this guy is from Balgownie, do you know him?’ Cause that’s about an hour away from my parents’ house.

“I said ‘No, I don’t, but he looks like he is on drugs,’” she laughs. “He had such an expressive face.”
