NINE’S SHOCK SHAKE-UP!

-

In a bid to save ratings, sources reveal that Nine Network is in the process of a major reshuffle. In addition to Karl Stefanovic coming back to Today, along with current 60 Minutes reporter Allison Langdon, our insider claims that plans are in motion for Sylvia Jeffreys to play a bigger role on A Current Affair, taking on exclusive interviews, after bosses were impressed with her work ethic.

However, the rumours of Sylvia stepping up have apparently left veteran ACA reporter Tracy Grimshaw worried. “Word is she’s not happy. Tracy has had a stranglehold on that position for years now and won’t go down without a fight, so watch this space,” the source says.

Last week, New Idea broke the news that Karl was coming back to his morning TV slot but those close to him fear he’s not ready to take on the role again.

“After everything that’s gone down the past couple of years Karl is like a castrated bull now,” says a friend. “He is not the same larrikin he once was and is so worried he may put his foot in it. He has kind of lost his shine.”

If everything goes ahead, Karl’s return could mean current Today co-host Tom Steinfort being booted off the panel and back to 60 Minutes. According to our spies, Tom’s co-hosts Georgie Gardner and Deborah Knight agree changes need to be made to save the show.

“They are both well-respected and experienced journalists,” says the source. “They know things can’t go on this way and are ready for a reshuffle.”

Another insider claims the changes will mean Georgie could be taking over co-hosting on the weekends with David Campbell. They added: “Nine sees the Karl and Alli combo as the only way to break the Sunrise stranglehold and increase the flagging ratings.”
