THE CURSE OF THE FRIENDS CAST
When Jennifer Aniston broke the internet with her first Instagram image of a Friends reunion, the cast looked happier than ever.
But looking behind the shiny veneer of their smiles is a less upbeat story, with nearly all of the cast having had somewhat complicated personal lives. Matthew Perry has been in and out of rehab since he left the show in 1994 for drug and alcohol problems and was recently spotted looking worse for wear and dishevelled after a night out as he continues to struggle to keep himself in check. Jennifer Aniston, meanwhile, has enjoyed a successful career but a turbulent love life. Having split from first husband Brad Pitt in 2005, she went on to marry Justin Theroux in 2015 but the couple split less than three years later. Jen has remained single since.
She has recently admitted she is sometimes lonely. “I find myself at times isolating a little bit more,” she told Glamour.
“I love being at home. Home is a very comfortable, safe space, but if you stay at home for too long you will become isolated.”
Courteney Cox’s marriage to David Arquette also didn’t last, and just earlier this year she ended her engagement to Johnny Mcdaid. However they have remained a couple, despite the Snow Patrol musician living in the UK and Courteney remaining in the US.
Matt Leblanc has also had a rocky love life. He divorced wife Melissa Mcknight in 2006 after a three-year marriage and then dated Andrea Anders for eight years before they ended their relationship in 2014. Matt is now dating TV producer Aurora Mulligan, who is 17 years his junior.
David Schwimmer, who played Ross, has admitted the hugely popular show affected his personal life. ‘‘It was pretty jarring and it messed with my relationships to other people in a way that took years, I think, for me to adjust to and become comfortable with,’’ he told the Hollywood Reporter.
“IT WAS PRETTY JARRING AND IT MESSED WITH MY RELATIONSHIPS TO OTHER PEOPLE”
