ADVENTURE PARK GEELONG, VIC

This summer, a massive tidal wave is headed for Victoria in the form of the new triple funnel Tsunami waterslide at Adventure Park Geelong. The water theme park has just opened the $4 million ride, one of only two triple funnel slides in Australia. The Tsunami stands at a staggering 7.5 storeys high and 172m in length and can take up to four guests per raft through three fast mega funnels of menacing water rapids. Expect colossal tidal waves and raging waters that twirl and suck riders down a series of high-speed rapids, snaking tunnels and whirlpool funnels. It’s an epic adrenaline rush for all. The Tsunami is the second stage of an $8 million investment into the everevolving water park, which is an hour’s drive from Melbourne. adventurepark.com.au.

CARNIVAL SPLENDOR CRUISE SHIP

When the 3012-guest Carnival Splendor cruise ship sailed into Australian waters in December she showed off a brand-new slide named Green Lightning. The new slide, which is part of the Carnival

Splendor’s green and gold Waterworks, is a thunderous endeavour. Towering 50 metres above the waterline (that’s the height of the Sydney Harbour Bridge), those tackling Green Lightning will launch with an impressive 11.3-metre freefall drop as the capsule floor opens, followed by a slingshot curve, twisting and sliding riders into a giant green swirling bowl. If that’s not enough, there’s the 104-metrelong Twister Waterslide to try out, as well as Miniracer slides for the little ones. The water theme park is just one of the fun family attractions on the ship – there are also two pools, two spas, a sports deck with mini golf, as well as a running track and sports courts. The ship is the length of three football fields and is 14 decks high. carnival.com.au.
