KARL & JASMINE’S PUBLIC FIGHT
THEIR RELATIONSHIP IS OVER AND COMMANDO IS SAID TO BE FURIOUS WITH HIS FAMOUS EX
There are still a few months to go before their baby’s due, so hopefully Karl Stefanovic and Jasmine Yarbrough aren’t suffering from sleepless nights just yet.
But the normally happy couple appeared unusually downcast as they dined out in Melbourne last week, prompting questions about what could be wrong.
They were dining at Bistro Guillaume at Crown Melbourne alongside Karl’s manager, Sharon Finnigan, so perhaps they were in the midst of discussions about where the Today host’s career is headed now he’s back on the small screen five mornings a week.
From the look on Jasmine’s face, perhaps she’s starting to realise how inconvenient it’ll be to have her chief nappy changer in a full-time job!
During the long lunch, while
Karl appeared characteristically pleased with himself, Jasmine gave him the side eye and seemed distinctly unimpressed with whatever was being said.
Later on, however, the not-quite-newlyweds clearly settled whatever differences they might have had. They were spotted walking down the street with their arms lovingly wrapped around each other.
The following day, as Jasmine celebrated her 36th birthday, Karl took to
Instagram with a sweet and emotional message for his wife.
Captioning a picture of a widely smiling Jasmine holding their dog Chance, Karl wrote: “Happy birthday my love. You are such a light. A great big beautiful happy unwavering light. I’m so grateful.”
Just days before, the parentsto-be reportedly threw a lavish genderreveal party just steps away at Crown’s Crystal Club.
They announced to an audience of close friends and family – including Karl’s 14-yearold daughter Ava – that they are expecting a girl, due in May.
“WE ARE GLAD SOME OF THE HEAT HAS DIED DOWN … WE CAN FINALLY LEAD A NORMAL LIFE”
Recently, Karl talked about the impending arrival of their baby during an interview on The Kyle and Jackie O Show, admitting he was “very pumped”.
When asked about Jasmine and how the pregnancy was progressing, he replied: “She’s going really great, she’s terrific. She’s glowing and we are happy, very happy.”
Possibly alluding to the early controversy over his relationship with Jasmine, which came soon after the split from his wife of 21 years, Cassandra Thorburn, Karl continued: “We are glad some of the heat has died down from the whole thing and we can finally lead a normal life as we did before.”
Yet Karl could soon be feeling another kind of heat, with the news last week that the revamped Today show is still losing the ratings war against Sunrise.
Despite an initial rise in viewers when Karl and co-host Allison Langdon returned to the brekkie show at the beginning of January, the ratings have continued to be substantially lower than execs would have liked.
According to reports, the new show was watched by 199,000 people in the national five-city metro market, while the same time last year, Georgie Gardner and Deb Knight hit 211,000.
“Executives would be going, ‘Oh my God, we thought this was going to be hard but we are not getting an early bounce,’” media analyst Steve Allen told The Daily Telegraph’s Sydney Confidential.
Could the pressure to push Today’s ratings up, along with the impending birth and sleepless nights, be getting too much for the TV favourite?
“OF COURSE HE IS ANGRY ... ANY PARENT WOULD BE”
Steve ‘Commando’ Willis has been left devastated by the news that his ex Michelle Bridges was caught drink driving with their young son in the car. Now a source close to the couple claims Steve has been begging Michelle for months to get help.
Steve was said to be on a work trip in Adelaide when he found out the shocking news, and his thoughts would no doubt have turned straight to the safety of their son Axel, 4.
“Of course he is angry,” clams the friend.
“Any parent would be. Steve was beside himself when he realised their little boy was in that car – it could have been so much worse.
“But once he had learnt that no-one was hurt, he just lost it.”
The 49-year-old personal trainer was allegedly pulled over in Sydney’s eastern suburbs at around 11.25am on Australia Day.
The Daily Telegraph reported Michelle allegedly failed an initial breath test. “She was arrested and taken to Waverley Police Station where she allegedly returned a reading of 0.086,” the newspaper reported.
The next day, Michelle released a statement expressing her “regret for breaking the law” and dropped the bombshell she and Steve had split, blaming her “error of judgement” on the break-up.
“It has been a very difficult time for me the last few weeks dealing with the break-up of my long-term relationship.”
According to the source, Michelle blind-sided Steve, who has three children from a previous relationship, by making their split public. Apparently, the couple’s relationship broke down over New Year’s, with Michelle’s “erratic behaviour” said to be part of the problem.
“A few people were worried about Michelle’s welfare and tried to get her to see a professional, but she just wouldn’t,” the source claims.
A close friend raised concerns about how her behaviour might affect the children, but Steve was apparently left with no choice but to move out and end their six-year relationship.
“It was an awful position for him to be in,” the source says.
The source claims Michelle begged Steve not to go public with the split because it would be “bad for business” and he agreed to keep the news private.
But Steve is now said to be reeling after his ex not only confirmed the split to a newspaper, but blamed the break-up for putting their young son in danger.
