T y SURVIVED REGNANCY

- By Natalee Fuhrmann

life. On waking and seeing her charred limbs for the first time, the tortured teen burst out crying saying, “Mum, I look like a monster.”

The scarring has been a constant reminder of the worst day of Bianca’s life. For years she feared no-one would love her and she’d never have the chance to be a mum.

“Then along came Troy, who’d also been burnt in an accident near an open fire,” she says, of the event that left her future husband’s lower legs scarred. “He tells me that he never sees my scars, which is beautiful. It’s funny, in my darkest days, my mum used to assure me that someone would love me for who I am – and she was right.”

The infatuated pair married a year ago, but pregnancy

fears always lingered. debut and Bianca has been floating on air ever since.

He was meant to come on May 4, a significant day for ‘Star Wars tragics’ like Bianca, who named her firstborn after Kylo Ren, the son of lead character, Han Solo.

“I look at him all day and just say to myself, ‘Oh my God, you’re mine’,” she gushes. “I’ve waited to be a mum for so long and now that he’s here I really feel complete.

“We lost a baby one year before we conceived Kylo and I was told it’s because Troy and I have opposite blood types. Since that day I cried every time we tried and didn’t get pregnant.

“All of my friends were having kids and I felt destined to be ‘the aunty’ and nothing more,” Bianca adds.

Giving birth during the

COVID-19 lockdown wasn’t ideal, because cuddles were on hold, but Bianca says her little bubba was surrounded by love.

“As soon as he was put on my tummy I was besotted,” she grins, planting a gentle kiss on his cheek.

“It still baffles me how you can love something so immediately and bond with them so quickly.”

Her mum, Isobel, is bursting with pride too.

“I cried [from afar] when Kylo was born,” she shares. “Bianca is my hero and [the] strongest person I know. She’s not only defeated her severe burns, but all odds since.”

And for the perpetrator who was punished with just a community service order and is now a father himself, Bianca has one message: “Imagine how you would feel if your child was burnt like me – I hope you do occasionally!”
