HE PROPOSED.. THEN HE D

KENESHA AND STEVEN WERE ON THE HOLIDAY OF A LIFETIME WHEN THE CRUELLEST TWIST OF FATE HAPPENED

-

Alittle over a year ago, the life that Kenesha Antoine knew suddenly changed forever. In heartbreaking circumstances, the young lawyer was enjoying a trip to Africa to celebrate her 40th birthday with her boyfriend, Steven Weber Jr, but tragically returned home alone.

The loved-up pair had their future to look forward to, as Steven, a hopeless romantic, had secretly planned an elaborate marriage proposal during the holiday. What he could not foresee was that it would backfire in the most unimaginable way, and the 40-year-old would be dead moments after asking Kenesha to be his wife.

Staying at the idyllic Manta Resort on Tanzania’s stunning remote Pemba Island, the couple had booked a $1700-per-night, underwater room, with the bedroom submerged four metres below the ocean’s surface.

“It was one of the most amazing bucket-list experiences,” says Kenesha.

But all too soon it turned into an unfathomable nightmare. On September 19, 2019, Steven and Kenesha had just filmed themselves excitedly exploring their jaw-dropping underwater accommodation that had a sunbathing and stargazing deck, living room, and bathroom at water level, plus the sleeping area below the surface, when Steven slipped on his fins and mask, and free-dived down to one of the bedroom windows.

As Kenesha watched from inside, filming him on her phone, her heart pounded and stomach churned as Steven pressed a handwritten note in a Ziploc bag to the glass.

“I can’t hold my breath long enough to tell you everything I love about you. But... Everything I love about you

“YOU NEVER GOT TO HEAR MY ANSWER: ‘YES! YES! A MILLION TIMES, YES, I WILL MARRY YOU’”

I love more every day!” it read.

On the back of the note Steven asked Kenesha to marry him, and he produced a ring box.

These were the last precious snaps taken by Kenesha and Steven on what was meant to be her 40th birthday holiday of a lifetime. drowned seconds after proposing to the love of his life.

A spokesman for the resort says weather and water conditions were calm at the time of his dive, and Steven’s friend of 25 years Jarred Monson says his “magnetic, witty, clever, super-funny, warm and loving” mate didn’t have any health issues.

It is yet to be confirmed how Steven drowned, and until Kenesha has that answer, her broken heart is struggling to heal.

“We never got to embrace and celebrate the beginning of the rest of our lives together, as the best day of our lives

turned into the worst,” the grieving fiancée says.

Friends and family who were in on the surprise said

Steven wanted to propose in such a unique way so Kenesha would have the memory forever. Tragically, this is the only memory she has left of her darling Steven, who was described by all who knew him as a “bright light”.

Yet, while that light may have faded, Kenesha’s love for Steven never will.

“I will find you and marry you in the next lifetime, and the next, and the next, and the next…,” she says. “I love you so much, and I always will.”
