EXPERT TIPS TO DISPLAY WORKS AROUND YOUR HOME DIVIDE THE SPACE SPRUCE IT UP WITH A SCULPTURE

The way we showcase artwork can instantly make any room come to life. Kerry-anne Blanket, the director of KAB Gallery, shares her top techniques that will have you styling like a pro!

USE ARCHITECTURE TO YOUR ADVANTAGE

Create a bespoke gallery wall in the largest wall space in your home. A large wall may also be calling for an oversized landscape piece or a unique series of still-life pieces. Do not be afraid to be eclectic and mix it up with mediums, sizes and frames. Nothing shows your personality better than a busy and inspiring collection of works that is entirely your gallery wall.

THREE IS BETTER THAN FOUR

Savvy decorators value a sense of consistency, which is achieved by positioning art in odd numbers. Try hanging similar-sized artworks side by side at uneven heights, but with uniform distances between them. The finished look will seem effortlessly coordinated, giving structure to the space and feeling strangely more harmonious.

STEP UP YOUR STAIRCASE

The high ceilings and white spaces surrounding a staircase can be elevated with one or two large abstract pieces. The other option is staggering your art up the wall to echo the configuration of the steps. Remember to stick to odd numbers where possible.

Find two artworks that work especially well together and hang them symmetrically on either side of a doorway or window. The best visual results are achieved when the artworks have a sense of cohesion.

A sculpture can break up a room and, if positioned in the correct light, can become a signature feature. Look to place your sculpture pieces at the base of staircases, in house entryways or hallways.
