New Idea

DANIEL CRAIG ‘JAMES BOND IS FLAWED’

IT’S THE ACTOR’S FINAL OUTING AS 007

-

After finishing 2015’s Spectre, it seemed as though Daniel Craig was done with James Bond, infamously saying he would rather “slash his wrists” than make another 007 film. But, fast forward to the present and the British actor was enticed back to make one final film in the franchise,

No Time To Die.

“I felt like doing [the film] was a chance to wrap up loose ends and finish what we started 15 years ago … and I think we’ve done that,” Daniel told GQ.

Picking up after the events of Spectre, James is enjoying a peaceful life in Jamaica after leaving active service. But, he’s quickly drawn back into action by his old CIA friend, Felix (Jeffrey Wright), who needs help rescuing a kidnapped scientist.

In the 15 years that he has portrayed the character, Daniel has certainly made James Bond his own, swapping chauvinistic jokes for a grittier Bond.

“I hope he’s changed a lot since I’ve been part of him,” Daniel adds. “What I’ve always tried to do is never judge him. He is flawed, and his attitude towards women and the world has been questionable … [What we’ve tried to do is] cast as many strong female characters as possible.”

Now, with the actor finally saying goodbye to the role he has loved playing so much, there has been plenty of speculation about who will take over.

A number of names have been thrown around, including Idris Elba, Regé-jean Page and Tom Hardy. But, with No Time To Die star Lashana Lynch rumoured to be taking over the 007 handle at the end of the film, it seems she could also be a possibility. We’ll just have to wait and see…
